My visual essay is the second big assignment we worked on in class. This assignment is directly influenced by my op-ed and is, in essence, a simplistic visual of what I mention in my op-ed. In this assignment, I decided to add some statistics, messages, and a tweet from Donald Trump to show the extent of the problem and how gang violence is negatively affecting the reputation of Hispanics around the country. As I progressed through to my final draft I removed a picture that provoked mixed interpretations, took away similar messages/images and added the statistic to show the scope of the issue of gang violence in New York.
